With the pandemic still restricting international travel, it is frustrating that we can’t go to the countries we want to visit. As a travel blogger myself, I really felt the negative changes of these restrictions, from the travel protocols to additional requirements that made it harder for us to go to our desired destinations.

The sad thing is that since the country is not yet open for tourism, it’s quite impossible to get Japanese snacks. Of course, we can always order online for some authentic treats, but it’s a bit pricey, and choosing different snacks is also frustrating because you just want to try everything! Right?

What is Sakuraco?
Sakuraco is a monthly subscription box full of 20 different traditional Japanese sweets, snacks, and teas sent to their subscribers worldwide every month. Every month has a different theme; this helps more people understand and discover more sides of Japanese culture all year round!

My Authentic Japanese Snacks Experience!
I’m just so happy to share with you my personal experience with Sakuraco. I just knew that I was receiving a box, but what I received was a great surprise. I got the Flavors of Mt. Fuji box, the October 2021 theme!
Mt. Fuji is shared between 2 prefectures: Shizuoka and Yamanashi. Shizuoka is known for its rich green teas and has tea plantations that stretch for miles. While Yamanashi, having its unique climate, makes it a perfect place for harvesting fruits throughout the year!
With that being said, I guess you already have an idea of what treats I had for this month! This is the complete list of what I received:

Twenty delicious snacks in one box! The aesthetically beautiful box filled with excellent snacks is what completed my month. You just not only get a box full of treats but also learn about the origin’s history and culture.
The matcha tea, together with Japanese sweets and treats, are all enjoyable! I didn’t experience eating most snacks here while I visited Japan, so it was really fascinating.
The Red Fuji Cookies and the Kokeshi Doll Senbei’s designs were adorable; I didn’t want to ruin it by eating it, but I’ll give it 2 thumbs up for the design and taste. My personal favorite is the Kabocha Pudding Bread – it was soft and delicious! I really enjoyed this collection of these cute goodies!
How To Enjoy Sakuraco?
Subscription is the answer! As mentioned, Sakuraco is a subscription type of service. It is very easy though, all you have to do is choose a plan and subscribe to it. Sakuraco will then deliver the boxes to you every month as long as your subscription is active.

Things to remember:
The box is always ordered in the preceding month; for example: to get the May box, “Mochi & Sakura Tour,” you need to subscribe before April ends (in Japan Standard Time). If you subscribe in May, you will get Sakuraco’s June box with a different theme and so on. No worries, as they always reveal the box theme for the next month at the beginning of the preceding month. Just follow their social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to get all the updates.
How much is the Subscription?
Sakuraco offers different plans such as monthly and several prepaid plans – all with different prices. They are as follows:
- Monthly: $37.5 per box, charged every month
- 3 Month Prepaid Plan: $35.5 per box, charged every 3 months
- 6 Month Prepaid Plan: $33.5 per box, charged every 6 months
- 12 Month Prepaid Plan: $32.5 per box, charged per every 12 months
As you can see, prepaid plans are cheaper and are more convenient compared with other plans. You don’t have to worry about renewing your plan every month! Of course, it will still depend on which plan suits you best, but the prepaid plan is highly recommended, especially if you’re missing some good Japanese authentic snacks!
