After our trip to Mendoza, Argentina, we went to Patagonia. While it’s hard to say goodbye to Mendoza’s unique charm (and wine), I was also excited to head to our favorite destination in the whole world. Yes, guys, Patagonia will always top my favorites, and I recommend that you include it on your bucket list.
We went to San Martin de Los Andes which is a town in the northwest Patagonia. Located on the banks of Lácar Lake, you can definitely say that it’s a paradise! It is a destination where you can forget all the hustle and bustle of the city. Just so you know guys, I am a nature lover. Blame it on my ‘girl from the province’ root in the Philippines. Patagonia reminds me of my childhood days, and if given a chance, I would definitely settle down here. It’s a perfect retirement place, and also a nice choice for honeymooners.
To make our stay even more amazing, Destino Argentina arranged our accommodation at Rio Hermoso La Montana Hotel. Mind you guys, Jon is already taking notes about the property’s interior because I want to have the same! He practiced architecture back in the UK, so I think he will do a great job.

My Dream House Inspiration, Rio Hermoso La Montana
Thank you, Universe for giving us the opportunity to see the beautiful Patagonia while staying in a jaw – dropping hotel!
Rio Hermoso La Montana is a dreamy hotel located in the Lanín National Park. In here you can find solace and connect with nature. Instead of the annoying car horns, you can hear the humming of birds or the calm sounds of waters. The property reminds me of vacation houses – only better! And since there are only seven rooms in the hotel, you can be sure that it will never get too crowded. Best place if you want to reflect!
This hotel is just 25kms away from the city of San Martin de Los Andes.
The Rooms
Deluxe – There is a total of 4 deluxe rooms in Rio Hermoso La Montana, two on the ground floor and two on the top floor. The rooms have unique bathrooms which are made of stone and wood. In here you have your own safe, telephone, wi – fi, TV, and DVDs just in case you want to have a movie marathon.
Deluxe with Terrace – The hotel offers 2 Deluxe rooms with their terrace. The terrace will allow you to see the amazing panoramic view of the river and its surrounding areas. You can choose if you want to stay in a room with a king – size bed or the one with the twin beds. To be honest, I can stay in the terrace for hours and ‘sniff’ the fresh air.
Family Room – But if you are going to travel with your family, or you are with a large group, the family room will be your best bet. This is outside the main wing of the hotel so you can ensure privacy and intimacy.
Full House Option – A better option if you want to feel the mountain – house vibe.
I almost forgot to highlight their beds. My goodness, it was so soft and how I wish I can get one for myself.

The Food
The food offering at Rio Hermoso La Montana Hotel is also delectable. The view of the river even made it better. There’s also an Open Bar where you can choose from a selection of wines, other drinks, and tapas. The restaurant is open for now – guests.

The Facility
There is no need for a lot of additional facilities when you are staying in Rio Hermoso La Montana Hotel. It’s because the location itself is already enough. However, you can still make use of these following indoor facilities:
Living Area with Fire Place – If you are visiting Patagonia during winter, the living area is a good place to keep you warm. Aside from that, you can even make new friends as well.
Library – Because of the location’s quiet environment, bookworms would love to finish books and other reads in the hotel’s own library.
Meeting Room – Or if you are here for business purposes, there is a meeting room that can help you plan the best strategies for your company.
Activity Guide
Asidemarvellingveling the beautiful surroundings of your hotel, you can do so much in Rio Hermoso La Montana. Here are some of the most recommended activities:
Outings and Mountain Activities – If you are a fan of trekking, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, biking and similar activities, you would fall in love with Patagonia even more because you can do all of these near your hotel. You can always go to Chapelco Mountain or visit the lakes.
Fly Fishing – You will need a fishing permit before you can do such. But it is also a good experience to watch different fishermen showcase their styles in fishing.
Skiing in Chapelco – One of the best yet safest places to ski would be the Chapelco Mountains. There are 22 trails to choose from! Maybe we should go back during winter, don’t you think?
Golfing – Just few kilometers from the hotel and you can already find a golf course.
