Hi there, guys! I'm 53, a grey-haired, full-time housewife to my two young adults, aged 20 and 18. I'm very much married to an OFW working for Emirates Airlines for almost 11 years now. We are true-blue Filipinos and my, I really MUST tell you, that what you write here inspires me A LOT! Awakening the old traveler in me and my youthful kids, much to the consternation of my "expenses-grumpy" husband, when it comes to traveling... We live a simple life here, I do all the work as I don't employ house helps, I'm a mother and the father at the same time, as my husband rarely goes home for vacation. He only provide us with certain fixed amount for our monthly allowance. I'm interested to work online and teach English like you, so I can fund our future travels (me and my kids). Thank you for sharing your personal experiences with us. GOD bless you both and your future plans.

Hi, I am a newbie in getting paid online. I was told PayPal is the best tool. I used it to withdraw money. However, it has a huge deduction+the dollar to peso rate is also reduced so it is like double deduction to what I received in actual. Can someone please advise me how to best receive money from the UK and US for both currencies? Thank you.

Hi! Sorry I totally have no idea so I mean to ask what were the advantages/benefits of having a Philippine/BPI Dollar Account as a traveller? Thanks!

Hi! Your entries are not only informative but also encouraging! I'm currently on my first month of planning everything - I'm considering moving to Bangkok this year and your blog is a GEM. I came across your website today and thank you so much for writing about your experiences. It's likely that I'm going to bug you from time to time as I read more of your past entries to guide me through. I have an online banking account and I've linked my Paypal to it but have yet to start receiving payments from my clients as it was only recently that I started doing freelance writing. Just a quick question though: do you suggest that I open a new dollar account (with my Philippine bank) and use that instead? I'm quite torn about opening one because I'm inclined to use what I have at the moment. I also have no plans of using credit cards as I'm more comfortable dealing with only one kind of card which is a debit or ATM card. Many thanks and I'm looking forward to your future entries!

Hi, I'm from Philippines. Are you sure this is a VISA DEBIT CARD? Not Prepaid Mastercard? I never found this VISA Debit Card in BPI site. I am currently lookig for the best bank to use for international withdrawal/ transaction since I'll be in a long-term travel next month.

The post is really helpful. I liked the method you used. As you mentioned the PayPal account is a good idea, but the 4% service and the exchange rate is very high. As I am from India and I am collecting the money from my International customers through PayPal. Due to this charges, I am loosing lot of money. Will it be safe to carry the Cash in all places?

This post is really helpul. Thanks! And I like how you mentioned that you guys are also saving for your long term goals. There are some people who tend to forget that. I suggest you guys invest as well so your money isn't just sleeping in your savings acct.

I love your blog! I'm also dreaming of quitting work and taking the travel path. I have lots of anxieties on this since I am gonna travel solo. Lots of doubt but still want to make it real. I'm gonna follow your guides from pre-travel tips to real action on the road :) Thanks a lot for your helpfulness through your blog. I can feel your generosity and concern for travel dreamers like me.
