Luxury Hotel Review: The Golden Nugget, Las Vegas

By GTravel Gurus - Contributor May 7th, 2016 Posted in Best Luxury Hotels, Luxury Hotel Review, Travel Blog 20 Comments

A Las Vegas icon, the four grand towers, conceal 2419 rooms and suites. Since their recent remodeling, they cater to every possible need while maintaining the glitz and glamour found throughout the resort. And to those visiting with no plan to gamble, there is no room for boredom since there are lots of entertainment options like shark tank tours, over ten dining options, boutiques and a host of live shows – the only risk is not being able to do it all!

15 Cool Things To Do in Las Vegas for Young Couples

We arrived at our first ever visit in Las Vegas, welcomed at the impressive Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino by our long-supporting reader turned friend (we love whenever that happens!) Our room had been filled with welcome gifts and also has great view over the indoor/outdoor pool and casino complex downstairs. Though we’re not really gamblers, we do enjoy watching the experts and join with the thrill and adrenaline of the game. Sadly our $10 budget disappeared almost immediately in the slot machines, despite Jonathan wearing his lucky bathrobe, but thankfully the Golden Nugget catered to many of our other interests. We couldn’t believe the choice of restaurants here!

ACCOMMODATION

Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Our tower room in this huge building felt a world away from the buzz of the casino below. We had spent the previous night sleeping in our Juicy Camper so it was amazing to spread out across the spacious room and we slept so peacefully. Thanks to the extra mattress topper provided. After being exhausted from experiencing the many entertainment options and from swimming around the aquarium, it’s a great way to relax and watch an in-room movie, have our laundry done after the desert road trip and catch up on some work using the super fast internet. Amazingly, rest was quiet and peaceful without any noise heard from the world of entertainment below!

AMENITIES

For us the, most striking of the facilities was the semi-open swimming pool with cool slides (one even takes you right through the shark-filled aquarium) and lounge chairs, just in the shallow area of the pool, that allows you to lie on the surface of the water. Once ready to dry off, you can do so at the poolside poker tables.

The hotel offers a range of rooms and suites with pillow-topped mattresses provided while non-smoking and handicapped-accessible rooms are available on request.

AREA GUIDE

Being a major Las Vegas destination, guests at the Golden Nugget are instantly in the heart of the action. Very close by in this downtown area is the public transport system, the Deuce, and also the adjacent Fremont Street for live music and lovely old Vegas style restaurants and bars.

TIPS

  • If you have a dog, bring them along! They’re dog-friendly at the Golden Nugget with several rooms allocated to accommodate dogs but be sure to book this well in advance.
  • Take advantage of the airport shuttle.
  • Be aware of the daily charge for resort fees which is $25, a very reasonable price with all the inclusions, but quite not clear before booking.

Breakfast is not included so we took advantage of the free drinks and snacks being offered by beautiful women downstairs in the casino! But if you choose to pay for the breakfast buffet, it is huge (just like everything else in Las Vegas) with every option you could want.

For other meals and snacks, there is no chance of disappointment with 11 different options to choose from including Sushi, Mexican and Asian cuisine, grill, and the most popular of all, Vic and Anthony’s steakhouse that also offers lobster and a great selection of wines.

PEOPLE

Golden Nugget Las Vegas

In keeping the lively atmosphere all around in Las Vegas, the staff at the Golden Nugget does an amazing job in welcoming guests from all over the world, accommodating many different needs and maintaining constant positivity. As it was our first time in Las Vegas, we were overwhelmed with options but they really helped us find our way around and with more plans in the future for partnerships in the United Stated, we will definitely be returning!
